DR CATHERINE BRYAN

BSc (Hons), MSc, PsychD

Deciding to seek psychological support for the challenges we face in life can feel like a difficult and sometimes anxiety provoking decision. With this in mind, my main priority is to offer a safe, trusting and non-judgemental space to explore the difficulties you are experiencing and work towards the meaningful changes you desire.

I believe that everyone is the expert of their own lives and therefore I aim to work collaboratively with my clients and will adapt my approach to best suit to their needs. To achieve this, I use an integrative approach drawing on a number of therapeutic models within which I am trained. This includes EMDR, CBT, Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Systemic approaches.

I have over 10 years of experience working in the NHS supporting individuals with a range of difficulties. I currently work in Major Trauma in London supporting individuals who have obtained traumatic injuries though incidents such as road traffic accidents, assaults and work-related accidents. I have experience supporting clients to adjust to their injuries and cope with the emotional and psychological impact of a traumatic event and recovery.

I also have experience of working in sexual health services and NHS staff support services. I supported individuals living with HIV, adjustment to new diagnoses, health anxiety as well as challenges related to burnout and work-place stress. In addition, I also work with individuals and couples experiencing sexual difficulties (pain during sex, erection difficulties, lack of desire). I am passionate in supporting people in having a sex life that is fulfilling and enjoyable for them.
